Summary Description A warm Hebridean welcome awaits visitors to this very special Art Deco period town house set in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, a land steeped in history and culture. And with the recently reduced ferry tarrifs, there's no better time to enjoy this wonderful destination's unique landscape.
Full Description
Gracious period sitting room with gas 'living flame effect' fire and wooden floors. Family room with TV. Dining room with kitchen and gas range cooker, wooden floors and underfloor heating. Cloakroom/W.C. Firsat floor: Master double bedroom with TV and ensuite shower room/W.C. and bidet. Twin bedded room. Small double bedroom. Bathroom/W.C. (shower over bath).

Shops and restaurants, some offering the famous Stornoway black pudding, are just a few minutes' stroll as are the An Lanntair arts centre and Lewis Castle, setting for the annual Hebridean Celtic Festival, and with a golf course in its extensive grounds. There are stunning sandy beaches, an authentic Black House village to visit, and a trip to the mystical Callanish standing stones is a must (15 miles). Local boat trips explore the coastline with its abundant birdlife and regular sightings of seals, porpoises, dolphins and the occasional whale. There are great attractions further afield too – visitors can take a 'hopscotch' return ferry through Harris and Uist to complete the Hebridean adventure.
Stylishly furnished and very well appointed, Solas makes a superb base for a wonderful holiday in the Outer Hebrides – and a hot meal with wine provided for visitors on their first evening ensures a delightful start to a stay on the island.

Local Attractions Crossing the sea from Kyle of Lochalsh takes you to what feels like a different world, to windswept islands of unspoilt beauty, treeless landscapes and brooding mountain ranges. Gaelic is still widely spoken on the islands, and the inhabitants are proud of their island heritage. A stay in one of our holiday cottages in the Isle of Skye and Hebrides is an unforgettable experience.

The varied and dramatic scenery of the Isle of Skye, with its profusion of sea lochs and high mountain peaks has attracted visitors for centuries. It’s also home to some excellent whisky and a visit to the Talisker Distillery is recommended for all those with a taste for the “water of life” – a heartwarming thought on one of our Isle of Skye and Hebrides cottage holidays.

The Outer Hebrides islands of Lewis, Harris and North and South Uist offer an even more unspoilt landscape, where the air is fresh and invigorating. The mountains of Harris are favourites with hill walkers, and there are deserted beaches to explore on South Uist. Don’t miss the Black House Museum on Lewis, which re-creates the life of a crofter in the middle of the last century.
