Summary Description Nestling in a peaceful and secluded rural setting in over 100 acres of marsh and splendid old watergarden, this lovingly renovated farmhouse and three converted farm buildings are situated on a small traditional working farm.
Full Description
Holding the ETC's '4 Stars' grading and retaining many original features, the farmhouse stands a short distance from the cottages which form part of a select, L shaped cluster. Enjoying shared use of an indoor games room, snooker room, multi gym and the extensive grounds, the farmhouse has its own enclosed garden while each cottage has a patio. Laid out at the time of the Great Exhibition, the 50 acre Victorian watergarden folly known as Dilham Islands is a paradise for walkers, bird watchers and nature lovers. Children will love Hamish and Rikki (the resident pygmy goats!) and the Highland cattle and lambs which graze in the meadow next door.

Ideally positioned for exploring Norfolk's coastline, just 4 miles away is the thriving market town of North Walsham with swimming pool and Wroxham, the Broadland 'capital', only 6 miles. The starting point for the Broadland Boat-Train Heritage Link and the last stop on the narrow gauge Bure Valley Steam Railway – which departs from Aylsham just 4 miles away – Wroxham offers a host of entertainments including day boat hire, river cruises, fishing, riding, golf, shops and swimming. Wroxham Barns, centre of rural crafts is also a wonderful day out. Lovely dune backed sandy beaches at Waxham, the magnicent Blickling and Felbrigg Halls (N.T.), Sutton Windmill and the Broads museums are all within 8 miles. Golf, riding and coarse fishing are also offered within an 8 mile radius and all the attractions of the seaside resort can be found at the coastal towns of Cromer and Sheringham with tropical swimming pool, about 15 miles away. Sheringham beach, holder of the prized Blue Flag Award, is one of the most beautiful in the country. The historic city of Norwich, with its magnificent 12th century cathedral dominating the skyline, is easily accessible. Standing on the confluence of two of Norfolk's loveliest rivers, the Wensum and the Yare, visitors enjoy the superb fishing sport on offer, or one of the numerous relaxing Broads cruises and river trips available. Excellent shops, a theatre and wide variety of restaurants are all to be found here too. Further afield, approximately 25 miles away, is the coastal village of Blakeney, where it is possible to walk out along the famous Blakeney point where seals are regular visitors. Shop and pub 2 miles.

Local Attractions Taking a break in one of our holiday cottages in Norfolk is the ideal way to explore this atmospheric and historic county. The coastline is the major attraction here, with miles of sandy beaches stretching from historic King’s Lynn all the way round to Great Yarmouth, famous for its Golden Mile and multitude of seaside attractions and entertainments. Cromer (noted for its crabs and pier), Sheringham and Hunstanton are also firm family favourites. If you prefer something quieter during your stay in one of our holiday cottages in Norfolk, try the North Norfolk Coast, a designated Area of Natural Beauty and a haven for walkers and birdwatchers. Venture inland and you’ll discover a gently rolling landscape dotted with flint cottages and ancient churches.

The county town of Norwich is one of England’s best-preserved cities and is a joy to wander around. Don’t miss a visit to the magnificent cathedral towering above the surrounding medieval streets. East of the city lie the Norfolk Broads, a vast expanse of interconnected lakes and waterways which has long been a firm favourite with sailors. Hire a boat for a day to see them at their best. Less
well-known are the mysterious Brecks, a wilderness area of heaths and forests and one of the least-populated parts of the country.
